Scream of My Blood is the story of the immigrant’s journey. Eugene Hütz, part Romani, part Ukrainian, came to the United States as a refugee in 1990. From there, he bootstrapped his way to forming Gogol Bordello; a musical melting pot comprised of fellow NYC immigrants hailing from Russia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Belarus and beyond. The band worked their way from busking in the streets to international rock ‘n’ roll fame, espousing an authentic antiauthoritarian energy born of post-Soviet trauma. Through interviews, live performances and closely observed verite, Scream of My Blood focuses on a multitude of immigration narratives to portray the struggle and triumph of the cultural outsider. No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, there is a seat for you at the table. And the more true you remain to your roots, the more you enrich the fabric of society.
